Critical Discourse Analysis of Moral Values in EFL Textbook for Senior High School

Abstrak
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran nilai-nilai moral yang terkandung dalam buku pelajaran Bahasa Inggris kelas XI SMA yang telah disetujui oleh Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Republik Indonesia. Analisis penelitian ini menggunakan Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) dengan metode desain kualitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis wacana kritis untuk menentukan nilai moral dalam teks visual dan verbal. Berdasarkan temuan penelitian ini, buku ajar bahasa Inggris ini memuat nilai-nilai moral dalam berperilaku di lingkungan sekitar, baik secara individu maupun kelompok. Hal lainnya adalah sebagian besar yang tercantum dalam buku pelajaran Bahasa Inggris ini mengandung nilai-nilai moral seperti rasa tanggung jawab terhadap diri sendiri dan orang lain. Temuan lainnya, rasa kepedulian terhadap lingkungan sekitar dan kepedulian terhadap sesama, dideskripsikan dari teks visual dan verbal. Dengan demikian, nilai-nilai moral yang terdapat dalam Buku Ajar ini perlu diketahui oleh guru dan siswa agar dapat berpikir lebih kritis dan membaca tentang memahami nilai-nilai moral seperti rasa tanggung jawab, rasa sayang, dan kepedulian.
