ADAPTIVE LEADERSHIP OF MADRASAH PRINCIPALS IN EDUCATIONAL QUALITY TRANSFORMATION DURING MERDEKA BELAJAR

The transformation of the quality of education in the Merdeka Belajar era places the leadership of the madrasah head as a key factor in managing educational change. This study aims to analyze and describe the adaptive leadership of the madrasah head in facing the transformation of the quality of education in the Merdeka Belajar era at MAN 4 Bantul. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation of leadership activities and the learning process, and documentation studies of madrasah policies and programs. Data analysis is carried out thematically through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and inductive inference. The results showed that the adaptive leadership of madrasah principals is realized through the ability to respond flexibly to policy changes, build madrasah community participation, and integrate strengthening teacher professionalism and the use of learning technology in efforts to improve the quality of education. The findings indicate that adaptive leadership plays an important role in creating responsive and sustainable quality-oriented madrasah governance. Theoretically, this research enriches the study of adaptive leadership in Islamic education, while practically it provides a reference for madrasah principals and policy makers in formulating adaptive leadership development strategies to support the implementation of Merdeka Belajar.
