This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing group guidance using symbolic modeling techniques in improving the ability to choose a university major among eleventh-grade students of SMAN 2 Makassar. The main problem in this study is the low ability of students to determine major choices that are in accordance with their interests, talents, and personal potential, which ultimately has an impact on errors in career decision-making. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The research population consisted of 26 students, with a sample of 20 students selected using the proportional random sampling technique, who were divided into an experimental group and a control group. Data analysis was conducted through prerequisite tests in the form of normality and homogeneity tests, followed by hypothesis testing using an independent-samples t-test. The results showed that there was a significant improvement in the ability to choose a university major in the experimental group after the treatment was given, with a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). These findings indicate that group guidance using symbolic modeling techniques is effective in helping students improve their ability to determine their choice of university major
